Transform- the world through the eyes of a child
The artist reabsorbs the world and transforms it. Children absorb the world for the first time and operate a transformation on it.
Although the concept of childhood has always been present in my life and work, lately I’ve been particularly drawn to it and I’ve been very interested in how children have a peculiar vision of the world, how through their eyes the world as we perceive it is transformed into something only they are able to see. Entering the world of childhood is entering a world of details, of imagined factors and creatures, of objects whose functions have been creatively altered, a world of inverted priorities and unexpected bursts of emotion.
Somehow I wanted to create a bridge between the two statements in italic and represent, through my work, the magical side of childhood, the way a child’s mind seems to embrace reality and make believe in equal measure. In this process, my daughter has played a very important role, not only being my main model, but being a very active one, who would suddenly come up with ideas during a shoot. It soon become a game between both of us.
